SCOTUS Rules that Gay and Transgender Workers are Included in the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

In a landmark ruling on Monday June 15, 2020, the United States Supreme Court has ruled that gay and transgender people are protected under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This federal law prohibits workplace discrimination against employees on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, and religion. The law will now encompass bias against gay and transgender workers. The Supreme Court decided this in a 6-3 vote.
