August 17 Tip of the Week

During these last days of summer, before open enrollment and back-to-school FFCRA woes plague you, now can be a good time to do some HR document housekeeping.  If your company is using employment application forms, make sure you are not asking applicants for their dates of birth, social security numbers, salary history, criminal histories or what type of discharge an applicant received from the military.  Looking at your onboarding documents, are you sure that you are using the updated Forms W-4 and I-9.  Both documents have been updated in 2020.  Last, now is a great time to get your employee handbook updated.  Many laws become effective on July 1st of every year, so make sure your handbook complies with all new law changes for 2020.  Our attorneys can assist you with getting an updated employee handbook.  If you are a client, simply open a ticket and ask us to start the process.  Happy housekeeping!
