Minnesota Governor Walz Signs CROWN Act into Law

On February 1, 2023, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed into law the Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair Act (CROWN Act). This makes Minnesota the 19th state to have enacted the CROWN Act, and will be an amendment under Minnesota’s Human Rights Act. The CROWN Act will ban discrimination based on a person’s natural hair texture or style. This bill was passed in the Minnesota Senate 45-19, and 111-19 in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Additionally, Governor Walz has signed into law another bill that will recognize Juneteeth as a holiday.
