New Form I-9 Released
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a new edition of the Form I-9 for employers. The new I-9 updates statutory language on the form, as well as an updated privacy notice. The new form is dated 1/20/2025 and has the expiration date of May 31, 2027. Employers can access the new I-9 by clicking here. As a result, E-Verify will now also include the updated language to reflect the changes. The selection “A noncitizen authorized to work” will be updated to “An alien authorized to work.”
Employers may continue to use previous versions of the Form I-9 until their respective expiration dates. These include:
- 8/1/2023 edition, valid until 5/31/2027
- 8/1/2023 edition, valid until 7/31/2026. Employers who use this form in an electronic system, must update to an I-9 with the expiration date of 5/31/2027 by 7/31/2026.
