“Poster Audits: Are Your Workplace Notices Up to Date?”

Every employer has it – an area where all the workplace posters that are required by both federal and state law are posted for employee to see.  Much like wallpaper, however, it is a fair bet that neither employees or employers look at that poster wall with much regularity. While it is fine for employees to ignore the writing on the wall, employers must take a more active role in maintaining the workplace notices and ensuring that they are up to date.  Much like minimum wage laws, which are updated on an annual or semi-annual basis, workplace poster requirements are also updated to either reflect changes in the law or to inform employees of new laws that have been passed for their protection.

In 2025, the following states have made changes to their workplace posting requirements:

Copies of required posters in every state can be acquired through our poster store, hosted by PosterElite.

Employers should conduct regular audits of their workplace posters and required notices to ensure that they are up to date.  One way to do this is to create a chart of the all the required posters that must be on display in the workplace, both state and federal, with the links to the state or federal website where the posters can be found.  These links should be checked on a regular basis, once a month or quarterly, to ensure that the poster at the link matches the poster on display at the employer’s worksite.  myHRcounsel can assist you in conducting such an audit; we are available to answer any questions that you have about employee notices or postings.
