September Third Tuesday Webinar- Unemployment 101: Part 2: Employer Responsibility

Tuesday September 20th | 12:00pm EST

Unemployment can seem like a simple machine: you put in money every quarter, it spits out money to your former employees every week. But what’s really going on behind the scenes? What if an employee gets laid off from a former employer and then you have to cut his hours? What happens to your rate if you take over another company? Can you call that worker an independent contractor and save on your contribution? There’s no way you’d ever have to pay if someone quit, right? While unemployment laws are a combination of universal federal laws and widely varying state laws, we’ll provide a sampler of common issues of employer responsibility to help you understand potential questions to ask to make sure you are being charged properly. We’ll also cover unemployment appeals, how to prepare, and what to expect. All in attendance will receive HRCI credit.
